Habitatmanagement Workshop
Last Friday, 39 participants from 18 project partners of the LIFE EUROBUSTARD project joined an online workshop of the LIFE EUROBUSTARD project to share experiences and knowledge on habitat management for the great and little bustard.
During the session, partners presented key threats and conservation measures for both species in different regions, including:
- Great Bustard – threats and conservation measures
- Little Bustard in SW Iberia – threats and conservation measures
- CAP and conservation measures in Spain
- Habitat conservation measures in France
- Best-practice examples from Austria and Hungary
The workshop highlighted how agricultural land use can significantly impact these species when their behaviour and annual cycle are not properly considered.
The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) plays a crucial role in shaping effective habitat management strategies. Within the LIFE EUROBUSTARD project, we are working to define and recommend key measures for CAP Strategic Plans to safeguard nesting sites, display grounds, and other essential habitats.
Close cooperation with farmers remains at the heart of our efforts to ensure sustainable land management that benefits both biodiversity and agriculture.
Participating partners included: TB Raab (AT), Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (FR), Junta de Extremadura (ES), LPN (PT), Milvus Group (RO), AMUS (ES), Raptor Protection of Slovakia (SK), FGS (DE), KNPD (HU), MVM DEMASZ (HU), MME (HU), ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG (AT), University of Murcia (ES), Fundación Global Nature (ES), EVN AG / Netz NÖ (AT), E-REDES (PT), Bratislava City (SK), Renewables Grid Initiative e.V.
