Sharing knowledge for safer power lines
The LIFE EUROBUSTARD online Workshop “Power Line Marking” will bring together experts, practitioners and stakeholders to exchange knowledge and practical experience on the planning, implementation and evaluation of power line marking measures.
The LIFE EUROBUSTARD project brings together partners from across Europe to improve the conservation status of the Great Bustard and Little Bustard through coordinated conservation actions and international cooperation. Reducing bird collisions with overhead power lines is one of the project’s key objectives.
The workshop will provide a platform to discuss what works, what challenges remain and where further knowledge and collaboration are needed. Particular attention will be given to the effectiveness of bird flight diverters, practical solutions and best practices for implementing bird protection measures.
Programme
The workshop will open with contributions from Hannah Böing and Mia Bausch, followed by a series of expert presentations:

The presentations will be followed by an open discussion, providing an opportunity to exchange perspectives and explore how collaboration can contribute to more effective bird conservation across Europe.
The workshop is part of the European Sustainable Development Week 2026, a Europe-wide initiative raising awareness of sustainable development and encouraging organisations and communities to take action.
The workshop will be recorded, and the recording and meeting minutes will subsequently be made available to interested participants and others who would like to learn more about the topics discussed.
We look forward to bringing together experts and stakeholders to exchange knowledge and discuss practical ways to make our power infrastructure safer for birds.
